Creation of system

I've gathered as much knowledge as I think I'll need for the moment, I have no doubt I'll need to learn other things as I continue with the system.

I'll post on this blog next when I finish the system.

Beginning implementation

The software I'll be using to create the system are:
- Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 (Express Edition)
- Microsoft Office Access 2003
- Microsoft Office Word 2003
- Microsoft Office Excel 2003

It'll take a few days to re-teach myself Visual Basic programming, after which I'll drive straight into creating the system.

Finishing the design

Creating all the designs took quite a bit of time; I've also had everything checked over by my client and so far everything seems okay. The designs have been signed and creation of the system can begin.

Continuing 'Nature of the Solution'

After finishing the data structures, I've moved on to form designs whilst closely following the requirement specification (I've had to visit the MDU website to help me create a design template).

Starting design

I've started the Design section by creating an entity-relationship diagram. I'm currently working on the data structures (tables and queries).

Approach to be used

I needed to choose the best solution for the current problem, and I decided to choose a bespoke software (to create).

Requirement Specification Amendment

After discussing the requirement specification with Ms Timms, it turns out there were a few things missing and the specification itself wasn't set out properly (so that it'd be easy to follow).

Requirement Specification

With the analysis of the current system in mind, I've created an initial requirement specification. There are currently 32 points to cover with the new system. I still need to take this specification to the Management Development Unit and discuss it with Ms Timms. Hopefully, we'll come to an agreement and she'll sign it.

Analysis

I just finished typing up a breif summery of the current situation. I'm going to start to list out the problems that I've noticed and that Ms Timms wants correcting.

Documents

Have started the document analyse and am checking to see if there are any differences in general design for different parts of the system.

Post-interview

I have transrcipted the interview and am currently performing an analysis of the interview.

Conducted the interview today and observed how the system is used.

The organisation's name is the Management Development Unit (http://www.mdulondon.com/) and I'm working with the Business Development Director, Ms Lucy Timms.
I've written up all the information I've been given and I am still planning interview questions.

The Organisation

I have been given a lot information about the organisation I'm to help and the system currently used.
After reading the information, I am preparing questions for an interview; I suspect I'll only be needing one interview.
